Pakistan Deploys Troops to Saudi Arabia for Territorial Defense Under New Pact

Pakistan has confirmed the deployment of a significant number of its military personnel to Saudi Arabia as part of a joint defence agreement aimed at bolstering the kingdom’s territorial security. According to Sajjad Haider Khan, spokesperson for Pakistan’s Foreign Ministry, these forces are stationed in Riyadh with the primary objective of defending Saudi territory. Khan emphasized that the deployment is not intended to support military actions against Yemen’s Houthi forces.

This development follows the signing of the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement on August 7, 2026, a pact that involves Pakistan, Saudi Arabia, and Türkiye. The agreement commits the three nations to treat an armed attack against one as an attack against all, thus establishing a framework for enhanced regional security cooperation.

Pakistan’s military has confirmed that its personnel are fulfilling various operational roles in Saudi Arabia under this new agreement. The collaboration underscores the strategic ties between these countries and their mutual interest in maintaining stability in the region.

The Makkah Joint Defence Agreement marks a significant step in formalizing defence collaboration among the three signatory nations. It reflects a shared commitment to regional security and collective defence, aligning their military strategies to counteract potential threats.

As the situation in the Middle East remains complex, the deployment of Pakistani forces highlights the ongoing geopolitical dynamics and the importance of alliances in ensuring national security for countries like Saudi Arabia. This move by Pakistan, alongside Türkiye, illustrates their proactive approach to regional defence in the face of evolving security challenges.
