UAE Denounces Iran’s Actions on Kuwait, Stresses Economic Unity in Gulf.

In a recent phone call with Kuwaiti Foreign Minister Sheikh Jarrah Jaber Al Sabah, UAE Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed vigorously denounced Iran’s missile and drone assaults on Kuwait, labeling them as acts of terrorism. The conversation between the two officials centered on the recent developments in the region and the security situation following these aggressive actions. Kuwaiti authorities have assured the public that the nation’s air defense systems successfully intercepted the incoming missiles and drones, and that the explosions reported by residents were the result of these interceptions.

Sheikh Abdullah conveyed the UAE’s unwavering support for Kuwait, affirming the UAE’s commitment to backing any measures necessary to ensure Kuwait’s security and stability. He highlighted the inseparable nature of Kuwait’s security from that of the UAE and the broader Gulf region, underscoring the interconnectedness of their safety concerns.

This incident takes place against the backdrop of ongoing diplomatic efforts between the United States and Iran, where US officials have noted some progress in negotiations. However, any potential agreement remains pending final approval, amidst a climate of uncertainty.

At the same time, tensions continue to simmer regarding maritime security in the Strait of Hormuz. Iran has expressed strong disapproval of recent US statements about shipping activities in this critical waterway, deeming the remarks as unlawful and contrary to international norms.

The UAE’s expression of solidarity with Kuwait highlights the rising regional apprehensions over security and stability. This comes as diplomatic negotiations continue, juxtaposed with escalating military tensions in the region.
