In response to escalating attacks by Yemen’s Houthi forces, Saudi Arabia, Pakistan, and Türkiye have committed to strengthening their military and intelligence cooperation. This decision was reached during a meeting of the chiefs of staff of the three countries’ armed forces in Riyadh. The discussions aimed to bolster Saudi Arabia’s security and enhance coordination under the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement, which was signed in August.
The military leaders reviewed the regional security situation and agreed to improve the integration of their defensive capabilities. They emphasized their collective commitment to defending Saudi Arabia’s security, sovereignty, and territorial integrity. The talks were prompted by an increase in Houthi attacks targeting Saudi interests and infrastructure, as well as shipping in the Red Sea and Gulf of Aden, which have heightened regional security concerns.
Additionally, Saudi Defense Minister Prince Khalid bin Salman met with Pakistan’s army chief, Asim Munir, to discuss the recent Houthi attacks and explore ways to strengthen joint defense measures. This meeting underscored the ongoing efforts to translate the Makkah Joint Defence Agreement into practical military and security cooperation. The agreement stipulates that an armed attack against any of the three countries will be considered an attack against all, calling for expanded defense cooperation and stronger collective deterrence.
